Istanbul  24.08.07 - 26.08.07

Although I would recommend Istanbul to anyone, I would not recommend Istanbul in August - very very hot! Turkey is a wonderful city - or rather a collection of ancient
cities one on top of the other - Constantinople, Byzantium,... from seat of the Roman Empire to seat of the Ottoman Empire... history is everywhere! And in between, streetside cafés with old men drinking tea in the shade playing backgammon, families in the parks sitting together chatting away, and sea gulls omnipresent overhead...
